Japan-based Web3 music community to stage ‘Music x NFT’ show
A group of musicians and Web3 professionals will stage a concert-cum-NFT exhibition in Tokyo next month as part of an initiative to promote “music x NFT” culture.
The “VVAVE3 Vol.1 @ WOMB” will be held at the live house WOMB in Shibuya, Tokyo on July 13, with some tickets being issued in the form of NFT, according to VVAVE3, a Web3 music community.
The show will feature music producer Shinichi Osawa, who has worked on projects such as Mondo Grosso; Kenmochi Hidefumi, the music producer for the group Wednesday Campanella; music producer Stephane K; reggae musician Hibikilla; track maker and DJ Zukie, VR artist Aimi Sekiguchi and others.
Part of the venue will be dedicated to DJs, live paintings and a NFT showcase.
A limited number of tickets are being sold in NFT. Standard NFT tickets are priced at 0.05 ETH (approximately US$63) each, excluding food and beverages. The VIP NFT tickets are priced at 0.5 ETH each and allow their holders to bring one companion to the event and the venue’s VIP area. They will also be able to get the VVAVE3 music NFT to be issued at a later date. A separate drink fee of 600 yen will be charged on holders of both tickets at their entry.
VVAVE3 is a Web3 music community from Japan that publishes community NFTs, digital collectives, and stages both live music shows and virtual events.
Musicians have shown an growing interest in using NFT. Late last year, Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto launched a series of NFT using the musical notes from his signature work, ‘Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.” Elsewhere, the US music festival Coachella has launched its NFT collection in collaboration with FTX, a leading crypto asset exchange. The Coachella NFT includes admission passes to its annual festival in April and to its future virtual shows.
