E-commerce operator DMM plans to release blockchain game next summer

Japan-based e-commerce platform DMM.com has announced it will develop a Web3 game using Oasys, a homegrown blockchain specifically designed for games.
The project will be supported by CryptoGame, a blockchain game developer. It will be in charge of blockchain architecture design and development implementation.
DMM said on October 20 that it is planning to release the game in summer 2023. It is hoping to build a token economy based on its own tokens. Earlier, in July, it announced plans to establish a new company within the group to enter the Web3 business.
Oasys is a gaming-focused blockchain that uses a proprietary architecture that allows games to be played at high speed and without gas fees (transaction fees). By eliminating transaction fees and execution latency hurdles, the project will make it easier to deliver content to IP fans who have not been exposed to NFT or blockchain games before. It is also expected to enable blockchain-based in-game payments, multi-chain support related to NFT items, and integration with other games.
In September, DMM announced a new metaverse project, Mid Mega City, which is aimed at building a “metaverse that will be loved by people all over the world and that can give shape to unlimited possibilities.” The company said this could only be achieved through DMM’s wide range of business domains, including video distribution, games, and FX.
