Bored Ape Yacht Club forms community council to help shape future initiatives

Yuga Labs, the creators of the popular NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club, has assembled a new community council made up of long-time collectors to help grow its community.

The council was formed with the intention of representing the club at large and providing an avenue for new perspectives, Yuga Labs said in an October 4 statement. The latest move “puts a more formal, efficient and consistent process in place for Yuga leadership to get community feedback and advice on an ongoing basis,” it said.

“We see the community council as a critical part in helping Yuga Labs shape the future of BAYC.”

The council has seven members who are all Web3 entrepreneurs and long-time Bored Ape owners, and will likely grow over time.

It will engage with the community, gather feedback for Yuga Labs and work with the company to uplift community-driven such as commercial projects, meetups, charitable giving, and other community-led ideas.

Yuga Labs said the council would be an autonomous entity representing the Ape community. “They’ll be bringing their various skill sets with ideas to the table, and we’ll work with them to make the best ideas reality,” it said.

More councils might be formed in the future for Yuga Labs’ other NFT projects, including CryptoPunks, Meebits and the Otherside, it said.
