Meta Connect scheduled for October 11

Meta has announced that it will host Meta Connect conference on October 11 to share updates on its metaverse project.

It will offer a glimpse of “what’s to come in the near and far future,” in addition to updates on the progress it has made, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, said in an Oculus blog on September 6.

The virtual event will bring together AR/VR developers, creators, marketers and others and explore what it takes to bring the metaverse to life. Leaders in the AR, VR, and XR space will share their ideas in a keynote, followed by developer breakout sessions, Meta said.

In August, Meta chief executive Mark Zurkerberg confirmed that the company would announce a new VR headset in October. The product is expected to come from Project Cambria.

Over the last year, Meta has released its VR-based social platform Horizon Worlds, first in the United States and Canada followed by the United Kingdom, France and Spain.

In last year’s Connect event, Zurkerberg announced that the company was changing its name from Facebook to Meta in order to focus on building the metaverse space.
