Ticketmaster lets event organizers to issue NFTs tied to tickets

Ticketing industry giant Ticketmaster will allow event organizers to sell NFTs tied to tickets on the Flow blockchain, a major step towards the NFT space.

Its partnership with Dapper Labs’ Flow blockchain will enable event organizers to issue NFTs before, during or after live events, according to a statement from Dapper Labs released on August 31. The tokens are tied to the tickets and can also serve as collectible digital memorabilia.

The ticketing giant has been running a trial on NFT functionality over the past six month. It used Flow to issue more than 70,000 commemorative ticket NFTs for the 56th Super Bowl tournament in February.

It has minted more than five million NFTs on the Flow blockchain for its clients, including the Apollo Theater, singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw, rock band The Black Crowes and stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.

The Flow blockchain is known for issuing sports-related NFTs including NFL All Day, NBA Top Shot and UFC Strike.
