Snack food maker Calbee issues first NFTs for free in collaboration with Astar Farm

Blockchain-based game Astar Farm is distributing free NFTs to 10,000 players as part of a collaboration with Japanese snack food maker Calbee.

Astar Farm is a GameFi based on Astar Network, a blockchain from Japan. Players deposit a crypto asset, “ASTR,” to buy seeds and grow crops on their virtual farms. They can then sell the crops to earn ASTR.

In the campaign between July 21 and 31, players who complete certain missions, such as following the Calbee Potato Deluxe’s official Twitter account, will have a chance to get a free NFT in a lottery draw. The commemorative NFTs are the first tokens ever issued by Calbee. A total of 10,000 NFTs will be issued.

Players who grow virtual potatoes on Astar Farm will also receive a limited-edition Potato Deluxe NFT. Of them, 50 lucky ones will get an actual pack of Calbee Potato Deluxe.

Earlier, in April, Calbee revamped its smartphone app “the Calbee Ruby Programme” originally launched in 2020 by using virtual spaces to enhance connection with its fans.

Astar Network is a Japan-originated product that allows easy access by Japanese companies and IP content. It is connected to the Polkadot blockchain and known for its low fees. The maximum value of crypto assets that can be deposited in the protocol is around 100 billion yen.
