Jazz-funk band Jamiroquai to join The Sandbox

Legendary jazz-funk band Jamiroquai has become the latest prominent music artist group to join the virtual gaming world The Sandbox.
Hong Kong-based blockchain powerhouse Animoca Brands, which owns The Sandbox, announced on May 18 that it was partnering with Jamiroquai, which “will bring virtual insanity to its virtual land in The Sandbox.”
The London-based funk and acid jazz band, led by vocalist Jay Kay, is known for a series of hit tunes, including its global smash “Virtual Insanity.” The Grammy-winning band has sold more than 27 million albums worldwide. Its third album, “Travelling Without Moving,” received a Guinness World Record as the best-selling funk album in history.
“Jamiroquai have always been future facing and super social – creating a land where everyone can come together in The Sandbox with a bit of funk, freedom, and fashion will provide a communal place to digitally connect with our fans and fellow music lovers,” the band said in a statement earlier.
“We look forward to telling you more soon, but for now can say that hats will definitely be involved.”

Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading brand management division, also takes part in the collaboration.
So far, The Sandbox has more than 200 partnerships with music artists and notable brands, including Ubisoft, The Rabbids, Gucci Vault, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, The Smurfs, Care Bears, Atari, ZEPETO, and CryptoKitties.
Animoca Brands said its partners shared its vision of empowering players to create their own experiences in The Sandbox using both original and well-known characters and worlds.
“We now have partnerships with various legendary musical artists and labels including Snoop Dogg, Jamiroquai, BLOND:ISH, and Deadmau5, and we’re excited to be making The Sandbox a home where artists can connect with their fans in a direct and genuine way,” said Sebastien Borget, The Sandbox’s chief operations officer and co-founder.
