Mastercard is launching a program to help emerging musicians to build their own brand using Web3 and blockchain technologies.

Kicking off in spring 2023, the Mastercard Artist Accelerator program will prepare five emerging artists, such as musicians, DJs and producers, with the tools, skills and access to forge their own musical paths in the digital economy, according to Mastercard.

The program was announced during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas, U.S. on January 6. Mastercard will use the Polygon blockchain to launch the program.

A first-of-its-kind curriculum will teach both artists and fans how to build and own their brand, from minting NFTs on the blockchain to representing themselves in virtual worlds, the credit card company said.

As part of the program, the company will release the Mastercard Music Pass, a limited time release NFT which it says will give holders access to exclusive Web3 x music educational materials, unique tools through its collaborations, Priceless experiences in real life and the metaverse.
