Tokyo eSports Gate plans to form cyclist DAO in Onomichi city revitalization project
Tokyo eSports Gate (TEG), which operates an e-sports theme park in Tokyo Tower, has announced that it will launch a project to revitalize local communities by promoting Japan’s tourism resources to the world.
The company will first conduct a pilot project in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and study the possibility of using NFTs and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) to build fan communities, it announced on December 20.
Onomichi City is located near the center of the Seto Inland Sea. Its waterfront slopes are among scenic spots that have been featured in many movies and other productions.
This year’s project will focus on the Shimanami Kaido expressway in Onomichi, and intends to create a DAO based on cyclists. The aim is to gather opinions regarding visitors’ needs and ideas for making the city more appealing to visitors.
The company believed that through the DAO formation, cyclists from around the world will discover the attractiveness of Onomichi City and the Shimanami Kaido. It also aims to build a model for regional development in which the improvement of local attractions will proceed in an autonomous and decentralized manner.
